Elder Law

The term "Elder Law" covers a wide range of topics, including: making Wills; creating Trusts; Estate Planning; creating Living Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Do Not Resuscitate Forms; as well as handling issues of injury to the elderly, including nursing home abuse. Many firms can work in a few of these areas, but few can handle the entire range of Elder Law. This firm has experience in all listed areas.

Elder Law issues are generally paid for by the hour, although some nursing home cases are handled by contingency fee. If services are being paid for by the hour, you will receive a bill at the end of each month or at the time your documents are delivered to you, including an itemization of any expenses.

Whether you need just a simple Will to be drawn up, or an entire Estate Plan, someone in our office will sit down with you for a face-to-face, confidential interview to determine the best way to protect your assets, or those of a loved one. Justin Lawrence has given talks at seminars about proper end-of-life planning, and has the experience necessary to determine the best estate plan for you.

Examples of Our Work

• Where a man with AIDS was supposed to receive a small inheritance from his parents, Medicaid attempted to take the inheritance. Justin Lawrence was able to successfully set up a trust to allow the man to use this inheritance for himself, and not for the government.
• Justin Lawrence created new wills for a man and woman after the birth of a child.
