Can I Recover Additional Living Expenses (ALE) if my Home is Uninhabitable?

Most insurance policies have a provision for additional living expenses. That really depends on the terms and conditions of your policy, but you will want to look at your policy. It’s typically under coverage. It’s called loss of use. There will be a provision under there that says if your home is uninhabitable because of a covered loss, they will pay those living expenses. Sometimes they’ll only pay up to a certain amount or for a certain amount of time, but they should provide those living expenses to you.
