Can I File a Lawsuit if my Insurance Company Won't Cover All my Repairs?

TRANSCRIPT:

If your insurance company won’t cover all of your repairs, you may be able to file a lawsuit. There are other avenues of recovery that you might also want to consider. If your insurance company is not covering the cost of repair because they think that that’s not a covered loss. They think that whatever caused the loss is not something they cover in the insurance policy, then you would need to file a lawsuit. If however, they’re not covering all of the cost of repairs because they agree that there was a loss and they agree the loss was covered, but they think that the repair amount is incorrect, then you may want to consider appraisal or another way to resolve the claim outside of litigation. That tends to be faster and less expensive for the insured.
