Injured While Working at Amazon? We Can Help
Working at Amazon involves intense physical demands, from the fast pace of fulfillment centers to the high-pressure deadlines faced by delivery drivers. When the focus on volume or speed leads to an injury, it can result in serious physical, emotional, and financial consequences.
While workers’ compensation provides much-needed relief after being injured, navigating the process on your own can feel daunting. Our Amazon workplace injury lawyers at Lawrence & Associates Accident and Injury Lawyers, LLC can help protect your rights by:
- Guiding and supporting you through every step
- Handling the complex paperwork and documentation
- Fighting for the full compensation available to you under Ohio law
- Challenging claims that an injury was pre-existing or didn’t happen on the clock
- Appealing unfair denials of your workers’ comp claim
Common Amazon Workplace Injuries in Cincinnati
Whether you’re at the KCVG Air Hub or one of the local Amazon fulfillment centers around Cincinnati, here’s a breakdown of the common injuries that local Amazon workers often deal with.
Warehouse Injuries
Cincinnati fulfillment centers rely on a fast-paced environment that can lead to several types of Amazon warehouse injuries, including:
- Repetitive stress: Performing the same motion repeatedly, such as scanning or packing, can lead to carpal tunnel or shoulder issues.
- Back and lifting strains: Constant bending and reaching for heavy items can cause herniated discs and pulled muscles.
- Floor hazards: Spills, loose packaging, or slick floors can result in a slip and fall accident, leading to broken bones or concussions.
- Machinery accidents: Accidents involving conveyors, forklifts, and heavy equipment can cause serious injuries from falling inventory.
Delivery Driver Injuries
With busy roads and tight delivery windows, common Amazon delivery driver injuries include:
- Traffic accidents: A delivery van accident can cause injuries ranging from minor whiplash to serious spinal cord injuries. Even a parking lot accident can lead to injuries that may qualify for workers’ comp benefits.
- Lifting injuries: Drivers often have to carry heavy packages without any help, which is how many knee and back injuries occur.
- Repetitive strain: Getting in and out of the delivery van all day can cause repetitive strain and injuries.
- Injuries from environmental hazards: Cincinnati’s icy sidewalks, distracted drivers, and aggressive dogs can cause injuries.
Your Rights as an Amazon Employee in Ohio
In Ohio, the Bureau of Workers’ Compensation (BWC) manages claims. Because it’s a no-fault system, you’re covered regardless of who caused the accident, as long as it happened while you were on the clock.
If you were injured while working for Amazon, you may qualify to receive workers’ compensation benefits, including:
- Medical coverage: Coverage for medical bills, prescriptions, and physical therapy.
- Lost wages: If you can’t work for more than seven days, Temporary Total (TT) benefits may be able to replace a portion of your lost paycheck.
- Permanent partial disability: If you have a lasting physical limitation, you may be eligible for compensation based on the percentage of your disability.
- Vocational rehab: If you can’t go back to your old job, the BWC can help pay for training for a new role.
Challenges Amazon Workers Often Face After an Injury
Suffering injuries as an Amazon worker can be challenging. Workers’ comp claims may be denied due to missing information or because the insurance company says the injury was caused by a pre-existing condition. Injured workers may also be pressured to return to work on light duty before they’ve truly healed.
Additionally, Amazon warehouse workers or delivery drivers may be reluctant to report their injuries. They may fear losing income, being labeled as a problematic worker, or even being fired. However, there are laws in place to protect injured employees and give them the support they need.
A lawyer can help you navigate the confusing Ohio BWC rules by standing up to insurance adjusters who might try to minimize your pain. By gathering the right medical support and fighting for the full compensation you deserve, our team makes sure you and your family are cared for.
What To Do After an Amazon Workplace Injury
If you’re hurt while working for Amazon, following these steps can help to protect your health and legal rights:
- Report it immediately: Tell your manager or HR right away. File an official incident report and ask for a copy.
- See a doctor experienced with BWC claims: Visit an urgent care or doctor that handles Ohio BWC cases.
- Gather evidence: If possible, take photos of the scene and your injuries, and collect contact information from any coworkers who witnessed the accident.
- File your claim: Submit a First Report of Injury (FROI) through the Ohio BWC website as soon as possible. An Amazon workers’ compensation lawyer can help with this.
- Get legal advice: Before signing anything or giving a recorded statement to an insurance adjuster, consider consulting a lawyer for guidance.
How Long Do I Have to File a Workers’ Compensation Claim in Ohio?
In Ohio, you generally have one year from the date of your work injury to file a claim with the BWC. While this might seem like a long time, acting quickly can help you avoid missing the deadline or losing important evidence that could support your claim. Missing the deadline could mean losing your right to all workers’ comp benefits, including medical coverage, lost wages, or death benefits if you lost a loved one.

Client Receives 10x More Than Initial Offer After Workers' Compensation Claim Dispute
How The Client Was Injured
Our client from Dry Ridge, Kentucky went through an entire Workers’ Compensation claim with no problems. The adjuster was nice, the TTD checks came on time, and all the medical bills were paid. Everything went well until the end, when the Comp carrier offered a tiny amount to settle her claim. Our client realized something wasn’t right and called Lawrence & Associates Accident and Injury Lawyers, LLC to see if she was getting a fair shake on her settlement.
What Lawrence & Associates Did to Help
Lawrence & Associates Accident and Injury Lawyers, LLC analyzed the claim and quickly realized that our client deserved far more to settle her Whole Person Impairment than the carrier was willing to give. We took on the case and assembled irrefutable proof that our client was owed far more than had been offered.
The End Result
Our client was able to settle her case for $60,000, which was approximately ten times more than she had been offered before. Our client was thrilled and was able to get her money within two months of hiring Lawrence & Associates Accident and Injury Lawyers, LLC

Prisoner Secures Temporary Total Disability and Surgery After On-the-Job Accident
How The Client Was Injured
Our client is a prisoner in the Kentucky state prison system. Shortly before he was incarcerated (for unrelated charges), he was injured at his work in Covington, Kentucky when a box fell from a high shelf and struck his shoulder. The Workers’ Compensation Carrier refused to provide medical treatment or Temporary Total Disability because it claimed our client, as a prisoner, was a ward of the prison system and would have to get treatment and other benefits that way. Unfortunately, the prison system also denied responsibility and client was left without medical care.
What Lawrence & Associates Did to Help
At Lawrence & Associates Accident and Injury Lawyers, LLC, we believe everyone has rights under the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It did not matter that our client was a prisoner. We took his claim and filed it, proving to the Administrative Law Judge that our client required surgery related to his workplace injury.
The End Result
Not only did we get surgery approved, but we also made the Workers’ Compensation carrier pay Temporary Total Disability (TTD) to our client while he was incarcerated. Our client is currently undergoing physical therapy and sending his TTD checks home to his wife and children.

Employee Secures Compensation After Hospital Denies On-the-Job Injury
How The Client Was Injured
Our client was an employee of a Northern Kentucky hospital who fell while transporting a patient. She hurt her shoulder and neck in the fall, but went home that day hoping the pain would go away. Unfortunately it didn’t, and when she reported the fall to her supervisor, the hospital immediately denied that she had been injured at work and denied any Workers’ Compensation coverage.
What Lawrence & Associates Did to Help
Our client asked us to determine whether she had a claim. Upon investigation, we found that the patient she was transporting was willing to testify that he had seen the client’s fall and heard her complain of shoulder pain. We gave this information to the hospital and informed them that a claim would be filed if the hospital did not accept its obligations to pay for medical treatment and Temporary Total Disability (TTD) under Kentucky’s Workers’ Compensation laws.
The End Result
The hospital backed down and agreed to pay for TTD and medical treatment without the need for a claim. Our client was delighted that she was able to move on with her life without the time and difficulty of filing a claim.

Cincinnati Firefighter Receives Workers' Compensation Benefits After Injury
How The Client Was Injured
Client had been a firefighter for almost 30 years and had developed cancer as a result of his service to his community.
What Lawrence & Associates Did to Help
Lawrence and Associates followed Ohio S.B. 27 and the corresponding new legislation which became effective in April of 2016 and used this brand new statute to gain Workers’ Compensation coverage for a firefighter. This law was specifically enacted for the protection of firefighters who are denied Workers’ Compensation when they are suffering from cancer that they have acquired from the risks of their job.
The End Result
Lawrence and Associates argued the facts of their client’s case and fought to get him the benefits he deserves. They won the firefighter the benefits he is entitled under the new law. Lawrence and Associates pay attention to the law and how it is changing. They are experienced at representing a variety of clients and will provide expert legal representation to every client they serve
