In a wrongful death case, you’re going to recover on behalf of the estate things like the funeral costs. But then beyond that, you’re going to be able to recover for conscious pain and suffering of the decedent. You’re going to be able to recover their lost wages. You’re going to be able to recover for the loss of their enjoyment of life. Depending on who the family are, you may well be able to have a claim for loss of consortium. That’s a claim that’s going to be available for a spouse or for children.
