TRANSCRIPT:
In a dog bite, your damages include medical bills, time off work if any, pain and suffering, and loss of consortium. One thing that sets a dog bite apart from many other types of injury cases is you’ll typically see that the medical bills are smaller because you only have to make a few visits to a doctor to say, get stitches, get the stitches taken out, et cetera. I have noticed that the pain and suffering awards are larger compared to the medical bills than what you would find for, say, a motor vehicle collision, probably in part because everyone knows that the pain from that bite is going to stay with you the entire time you’re recovering, even if you don’t have to go back to the doctor.
